Trauma therapy helps you feel safer and less controlled by what happened. It usually begins with building safety and coping skills. You should not be pushed to describe details before you are ready.

Common approaches include trauma-focused CBT and EMDR. Ask a therapist about their training and how they pace the work.

You stay in control. You can slow down or stop at any time.

This is general information, not therapy or a diagnosis. Everyone's situation is different.
